Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was pretty good. They get easier and less painful the older I get. Andy and I drove to my parents house Wednesday after work. My Mom made her amazing beef stew. My brother went out with some friends and Andy and I went to my cousin Ben and his girlfriend Shannon’s appartment. They live less than a mile for my parents so it was nice not having to worry about driving.

We drank Coors Light and watched some TV. I blew their minds with the stripper dancing baby. After my cousin Jenny left, Ben and I played Rock Band while Andy and Shan talked. We walked back to my parent’s house around midnight.

I told my Dad that Andy and I had been dating, but had broke up (the P’s knew I was living with Andy and had met him before one of my brother’s shows last year). I am pretty sure my Dad told my Mom this info, because she made me sleep on the couch and Andy got my room. I was pretty excited about sneaking into my room to join Andy after everyone was in bed, but Andy took the moral high road and respected my Mother’s arrangements. Boy has more self-control than I do, haha.

Thursday morning Andy, my dad and I watched some Thanksgivin Parade (booooooooooooooring but my Dad and Andy liked it) and my Mom cooked Andy and I a huge ass breakfast (eggs, sausage, english muffin, bagel etc). Afterwards we watched the Lions v. Packers game (Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) then got ready to go to Ben’s Parents.

Andy already knows Brian, my brother, and Ben pretty well so he felt somewhat comfortable. My large latino family can sometimes be intimidating though. This was proven when my Grandma and two aunts arrived and my one Aunt, refused to say hello to anyone, dropped some things off in the kitchen and stormed to the couch and ignored everyone till she realized there was someone there she did not know: Andy. Then she lightened up.

Other than that Thanksgiving was pretty smooth. Food was amazing as usual. My mom made pumpkin cheese cake for the first time and it was probably the best cheesecake Ive had (for real). Andy was really nervous but I think he did great. He said not having the title of “boyfriend” and just “friend” made it easier (since we aren’t technically back together yet). My Mom, however, commented on how nervous Andy was and asked if he was ok. She said he was shaking when he was getting his food at dinner.

My favorite comment from Andy on Thursday was: “I’ve never had Thanksgiving on paper plates before.” That’s how we roll ese!!!! hahaha.

Thursday night everyone went to bed early. Mom and Dad were beat and Andy had to get up early for work on Friday. My brother and sister watched The Philadelphia Story. Holy crap is it a good movie! My favorite line was “I’ve got a concoction for you that would pop the pennies off a dead Irish man!” They really don’t make movies like they used to. The writing in the 40’s was so clever/snappy and everyone was a little bit drunk and racist.

After the bro and sis went to bed Andy texted me and said he was still up. I went into my room and we just cuddled and once again he took the high road (I like a man with morals!). We did cuddle and talk for two hours though. It was so nice to have someone special in my childhood room with me, sharing my family, my parent’s house. It was probably one of the favorite moments of my life :-). (yeah I just totally dropped a smiley face).

I set my alarm early so I could get back to the couch without my parents knowing I spent part of the night with Andy in my room (so Jr. High, right?). My Mom invited Andy to come back tonight after work, but he declined. I wish he did, but no need to overdue it. I have a feeling he will be back with us soon :-) (see, I did that smiley again!)

Today was pretty low key: Moive, Target, ‘Bama v. Auburn game, Dinner (Mom made Mexican Chicken, another bomb ass Mama McG classic dinner), watched Elf with the fam and then hung with the sister a bit.

I am going back to the city tomorrow and plan on spending the day with Andy. We are going to (hopefully) make chili, dance to the Lady Gaga CD (Andy bought it today), and probably play Monopoly. I also have homework to do, so I should probably get on that too.

This became really long and really personal, but I want to remember this weekend well. I feel really thankful for Andy, and for my family. It has been a great few days.

Now off to bed to read some comics!!!

4th KIND

I saw this movie today with my brother and sister. I am not going to even try and be snarky and funny since the picture did not try to be anything more than an extended episode of Unsolved Mysteries. Regardless, it was still entertaining.

Family

My sister and I were talking about our extended family after we ran into my Mom’s cousin at Target:

Sister: Yeah, I guess [a second cousin] is kind of like the Regina George of the extended family
Me: I can see that
Sister: And you are like the Regina George of our immediate family
Me: … yeah, I can see that

Myke hired tajtunes.com again to sing me a birthday telegram again this year. I am instructed to “shake it” many, many times. I think it’s a present I am supposed to be shaking, in the context of the song, but I cannot really be sure.

Here’s last year’s, where you can hear me holding my breath with laughter.

AHHHH I remember this from last year and often try to explain to people why it is so funny! They usually don’t get it.

It’s hypocritical. It’s a shame that that’s what happened. My family’s English (his parents moved to South Africa two years before he was born). In England and Ireland, you’re taught from a young age not to cheat, not to dive, not to do anything that would gain an unfair advantage. The English, and I’ll say, ‘We English,’ expect everyone to be that way but the truth is the rest of the world is taught to do the opposite. Get any advantage you can. For the English and Irish to turn around and hold everyone up to their standards is unrealistic.

Christians seem to have have huge issues with gays but oddly enough they don’t have any problem with the commercialization of their supposed “greatest holiday”. What the fuck is up with that?

Well, technically Easter is the biggest holiday in the Christian calendar. Just sayin’
